‘Vikash’ works for the mental health and well being of Persons with mental Illness in the State of Odisha. Vikash currently working with 700 Persons with mental Illness and providing them support for medicine, Psychiatric care, counseling, Psycho-social support, hand holding support for productive engagement and livelihood activities, mainstreaming in the community/ society and inclusion with Govt. schemes/programmes or benefits. Vikash is always helping them to organize in different groups and facilitating the process for their empowerment and rehabilitation. Vikash has promoted their Caregivers group to build their capacities for effective rehabilitation of Persons with Mental Illness and promotion of mental health. Apart from these Vikash works with key stakeholders like Anganwadi Workers, ASHA, Members of Gaon Kalyan Samiti(GKS), Teachers, elected representative of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Panchayat Personnel, faith Leaders, SHG Leaders/Members for promotion of Mental Health and enabling a friendly community where PWMIs can exercise their rights and live happily like others. Vikash is the Pioneer Organisation which was initiated Disaster Management works before 1999 Super Cyclone. Also during the “Super Cyclone” and Cyclone “FANI” Vikash has played a major role in evacuation, rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration, distribution of relief and provided Livelihood support to a large community in Astaranga & Kakatpur block of district Puri. Currently, Vikash has been initiating an integrated process of Disaster Management in 406 Villages under 11 Blocks of Bolangir, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Puri, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Koraput districts of Odisha by constructing different Task Force Committees of local communities under Village Disaster Management Plan (VDMP), Vikash has empowered a large group of people to retaliate and confront Disaster Preparedness.
Also, to inculcate a culture of preparedness amongst the community and to evaluate the resources available with them and to coordinate the activities of various agencies/ Stakeholders and to use the feedback to identify the gaps and improve upon them to face actual disasters, Vikash has conducted Mock Drill/Mock Exercise in 3 Multipurpose Flood Shelters (MFS) of Tigiria Block in District Cuttack. The main objective of this Mock Drill or Mock Exercise was to sensitize the fellow community members, mobilize the community for Active and effective participation, Coordination among line Departments, agencies, CBOs and Community and Resource mobilization.
Vikash Foundation Organize camps in collaboration with its Partner Organization in different unreached pockets of the State of Odisha for need assessment, trial & fitment and distribution of adaptive aid & appliances for People with Disabilities and Senior Citizens of Odisha. The key objective of Vikash Foundation is to support People with Disabilities and Senior Citizens for independent living with dignity. It will help them in enhancing their mobility, participation in decision making process which affects their life, increasing accessibility and improving quality life. Thus, the Foundation organizes camps. The Vikash Foundation will organize one camp for distribution of adaptive aid & appliances in the month of October 2023 in the Gop Block area of Puri District in the state of Odisha, where 72 aid & appliances will be distributed among Children with Disabilities of this locality. Like these Children, there are more numbers of Children with Disabilities, who have limited accessibility due to non-availability of aid & appliances. Therefore, I, Sri Ashok Kumar Nanda on behalf of Vikash Foundation appeal you all to support for organizing aid & appliances distribution camp.
